The Parador de Pontevedra, a 16th-century Renaissance palace, offers a unique experience in the heart of this historic Galician city. With its charming architecture and tranquil atmosphere, it is an excellent choice for those seeking a comfortable and history-filled stay. The hotel features 47 rooms decorated in a classic style.

The Parador de Pontevedra is located at the beginning of the city's historic center, within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. Just a few minutes' walk away, you can reach the Basilica of Santa María, the Church of the Pilgrim Virgin, and Plaza de la Herrería. Its prime location allows visitors to explore the city on foot, enjoying its cobblestone streets and outdoor cafés.

Despite being at the start of the historic center, you can access the hotel by car to drop off your luggage and then park at a secure municipal parking lot a few blocks away, with a reasonable additional cost.

We were fortunate to have a beautiful corner room in the building. The spacious room had two large windows and a door leading to a private balcony. The charming colorful curtains added a cheerful touch, and together, they offered great views of the square and the old town of Pontevedra, as well as providing excellent natural light to the room. The double bed consists of two single beds placed side by side. The beds were small but comfortable. Due to the building's refurbished condition, the rooms are quite different from one another, so your experience may vary.

The bathroom is also spacious and features a bathtub with a handheld showerhead mounted on a bracket.

The furniture aligns with the decor of the parador, and while it could be improved, it meets the expectations for this price range.

The climate control system is central, and given the mild temperature during our stay, it wasn’t on. However, at night, we had to open the windows and were disturbed by the sounds of Pontevedra's lively nightlife, which negatively affected the quality of our sleep.

We had dinner at the parador's restaurant, "Casa do Barón," known for its Galician cuisine. The stately dining room, in line with the parador, is beautiful. The quality of the dishes is exceptional, including the most tender and delicious veal steak (solomillo de ternera) of our trip. The restaurant has an excellent selection of local wines, and the young Mencía wine we chose was delightful. The service is top-notch, with waitstaff who can describe the dishes and their craft perfectly. There is also a bar with a well-stocked selection of drinks and cozy decor. The parador offers breakfast, but we chose to visit other establishments, so we cannot comment on it.

A special mention of this hotel is the aesthetic of the common areas. The decor is exquisite, with chandeliers, prints, paintings, and furniture that complement the stately ambiance of the parador. There is also a beautifully designed garden that adds a touch of serenity and beauty to the surroundings. All of this creates an atmosphere that makes you feel like a part of the Galician nobility of the past.

Galician hospitality at its finest. We were warmly welcomed and given detailed instructions on where to park the car. The staff always greeted us with cordial and sincere salutations, making us feel welcome and valued at all times.
